Fire Stack National Marks at Legends Invitational

SEU athletes earn wins, records, and conference-leading performances

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Southeastern Track & Field delivered one of its most complete meets of the indoor season this weekend at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational, combining record-breaking performances, national-level marks, and strong event depth across two full days of competition. From throws to sprints to distance relays, the Fire showcased both star power and roster depth as the postseason picture continues to take shape.

Saturday's action was headlined by another historic performance from Charlotte Cattermole-Williams, who continues to elevate her own standard in the weight throw. For the fifth consecutive meet, Cattermole-Williams reset the SEU school record, winning the event with a throw of 18.04m (59' 2.25"). The mark not only secured the event title but also sits No. 5 nationally in the NAIA, No. 1 in the Sun Conference, and met the NAIA 'A' qualifying standard. She was also the top NAIA finisher in the field, further reinforcing her status as one of the top throwers in the country this season.

The women's throws group added more depth behind her as MarieAnge Moussignac placed fifth in the weight throw at 14.10m (46' 3.25"), while Lucky Baldwin posted a 14.02m (46') effort to finish ninth on the men's side and rank among the conference leaders.

On the track, Maci Mills delivered one of the most exciting performances of the meet. The sophomore surged to victory in the 600 meters, clocking 1:35.04 to break the SEU school record. Her time ranks No. 10 in the NAIA, leads the Sun Conference, and hit the NAIA 'B' standard, all while standing as the top NAIA time in the race. Mills' performance continues a breakout indoor season that has added valuable points and national presence for SEU.

SEU placed multiple athletes in the 600m, with Skyla Stevens finishing fourth in 1:39.37, good for a Sun Conference top-three mark. Arreeyanna Bonds added a fifth-place finish in the 400m at 57.91, ranking second in the conference and serving as the top NAIA finisher in her heat.

Distance events and relays also proved to be a strength. The distance medley relay squad of Mills, Bonds, Stevens, and Deverna placed second in 12:42.25, a time that ranks No. 8 in the NAIA and No. 1 in the Sun Conference while landing fifth on SEU's all-time list. The Fire showed impressive depth with two additional DMR teams placing third and fifth, ensuring strong team representation across the standings.

In field events, Madison Bates led SEU in the pole vault with a 12th-place finish at 3.25m (10'8"), which still ranks No. 1 in the Sun Conference and No. 2 in program history. Aubrey Sellers followed closely at 3.10m (10'2"), tying for top-10 program marks.

SEU's men's distance crew logged solid mile performances, led by Jack Brooks in ninth at 4:17.83, now No. 2 in SEU history. Jeremy Durbin and Kaleb Mellott added top-20 finishes while continuing to build depth in the event. Jonathan Grant added points in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.55m (14'11"), ranking second in the conference.

Momentum carried into Sunday as SEU continued to place athletes near the top of the standings.

In the shot put, Emma Terry opened the day with a runner-up finish at 11.79m (38'1.25"), leading all NAIA competitors in the event. Moussignac doubled back for another podium effort, taking third at 11.31m (37'1.25") to cap a strong weekend in the throws.

On the men's side, Jeremiah Rutledge soared to a win in the high jump, clearing 1.99m (6'6.25"). The mark places him among the Sun Conference leaders and fourth on SEU's all-time list, while he continues to own the top conference clearance this season.

Sprint and hurdle events added more high-end finishes. Dario Laing clocked 8.24 to finish second in the 60m hurdles, a time that ranks among the conference's best and maintains his hold on a top Sun Conference time. Olga Gomez sprinted to second in the 60m dash in 7.51, a mark that ranks No. 6 in the NAIA and ties for second in SEU history.

In the triple jump, Alyssa Morley placed seventh at 10.92m (35'10"), while George Clark finished eighth on the men's side with a leap of 13.24m (42'5.25"). Clark continues an impressive freshman campaign and now owns four of the program's top-10 indoor marks.

Southeastern returns to action Friday, February 6, back in Gainesville for the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic, where the Fire will look to build on their momentum and continue climbing the national lists.
