Fire Place Ninth at Titan Winter Invitational

SEU competes against nationally ranked NAIA programs in 54-hole test at Suntree Country Club

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Southeastern Men's Golf wrapped up a challenging two-day test at the Titan Winter Invitational, finishing ninth in a competitive field at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. The event featured teams playing 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, testing both depth and endurance against a strong mix of junior college programs and nationally ranked NAIA opponents.

The Fire posted a team total of 930 (+66), tying St. Thomas (Fla.) for ninth overall. Southeastern opened Monday with a 309 (+21) in round one before responding with a strong 299 (+11) in round two, showing improved consistency as the day progressed. Tuesday's final round proved challenging across the field, with Southeastern carding a 322 (+34) as conditions and course difficulty elevated scores.

Central Alabama CC claimed the team title at 901 (+37), edging top-ranked Keiser by one stroke. No. 15 Webber International finished third at 909 (+45), while host Eastern Florida State placed fourth. The presence of multiple ranked NAIA programs, including Keiser, Webber, Southeastern, and St. Thomas provided an early benchmark for the spring season.

Individually, Southeastern was led by Zach Shaw, who tied for 19th at 229 (+13). Shaw rebounded from a first-round 79 with a steady 73 in round two and followed with a 77 in Tuesday's final round, recording 35 pars over the three rounds. Marley Read finished close behind in a tie for 23rd at 231 (+15), highlighted by a second-round 73 that helped anchor Southeastern's best team score of the tournament.

Scott Starbuck placed 27th at 233 (+17) and led the Fire with eight birdies, opening the event with a 73 before closing with an 85 on Tuesday. Cody Williams finished 40th at 238 (+22), while Adam Crawley rounded out the lineup in 57th at 245 (+29), as all five golfers gained valuable experience against a deep and talented field.

SEU returns to action February 9–10, competing at the Coastal Georgia Invitational at Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia, with play scheduled all day both Monday and Tuesday.
