Gomez, Mills, and the 4x400 relay shine on the final day of competition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Southeastern track & field closed out a productive weekend on Saturday at the Alachua County Sports & Event Center Invitational/Multi, highlighted by multiple top-five finishes, an NAIA 'A' standard, and continued movement up the program record book.

Sophomore Olga Gomez delivered one of the top performances of the meet in the 60-meter dash, finishing second overall with a time of 7.53. The mark met the NAIA 'A' standard, ranks No. 2 nationally, and stands as the fourth-fastest time in SEU history, continuing her impressive early-season form.

In the 800-meter run, Maci Mills posted a strong fourth-place finish with a time of 2:13.96, also achieving the NAIA 'A' standard. Mills was the top NAIA finisher in the event and now sits No. 5 nationally, No. 1 in the Sun Conference, and No. 2 all-time at SEU, adding another milestone performance to her résumé.

The Fire also found success on the relay track, as the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Kevin Davis Jr., Zakaiel Crawford, Cedric Johnson Jr., and Trebreh Brown earned a third-place finish, showcasing depth and consistency as the squad continues to sharpen heading into the heart of the indoor season.

Additional momentum came from Jack Brooks in the 800 meters, where he placed ninth with a time of 1:56.79. The performance ranks as the third-fastest 800m time in program history, adding to what has already been a record-setting campaign for Brooks.

Southeastern wraps up the meet with several athletes trending toward postseason qualification and continues to build on a strong indoor season as the Fire prepare for upcoming competition.
