LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU Women's Cross Country opened its 2025 season Saturday morning with a fifth-place finish at the Swan City Classic, held at Holloway Park. Competing against a strong nine-team field, the Fire posted a team score of 146 with a total time of 1:18:04 on a challenging 4K course that wound through grass, dirt, and sand trails.
Jadyn Deverna led the Fire with a time of 15:19.3, placing 28th overall and setting the pace for SEU's scoring group.

Ella Sager rounded out Southeastern's scoring five, crossing the line in 15:58.9 to place 48th. The Fire showcased their depth with just 39 seconds separating their top five finishers, a promising sign for the team's development moving forward.
Sophie Robinson was just outside the scoring group, finishing 49th in 15:59.2, followed by
Acadia Donovan in 56th at 16:14.4.

Southeastern finished as the top NAIA team in the field, holding its own against several Sun Conference rivals and a deep group of NCAA Division II programs. The Holloway Park course once again proved demanding, featuring winding grassy stretches, soft sand climbs, and shaded dirt paths that tested runners from start to finish.
The Fire will return to competition on September 27 at the Florida State University Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla., where they'll look to build on their strong opening performance and continue tightening their scoring pack as the season unfolds.
