PALM HARBPR, Fla. -- The SEU Women's Golf team continued to build momentum with a seventh-place finish at The Invite at Innisbrook, hosted by Dalton State at the Innisbrook RGC. After opening with a 309 in Round One, the Fire improved by seven shots in Round Two with a 302 and matched that score in the final round, closing the tournament at 913 (+61). Ranked No. 14 nationally, SEU placed inside the top half of a stacked 14-team field that featured eight NAIA Top 25 programs, finishing ahead of conference rivals Ave Maria and St. Thomas and just seven shots shy of a top-five spot.
Sadaly Campbell and
Abbey Peterson paced the Fire with matching totals of 225 (+12), tying for 12th overall. Campbell followed her opening-round 78 with a sharp 73 in Round Two and a 74 on the final day, while Peterson posted consistent scores of 76-76-73 to join her teammate in the top 15. Their combined efforts gave SEU two finishers inside the upper echelon of the 78-player field.
Alejandra Cuellar tied for 25th with a 230 (+17), highlighted by three birdies in her second-round 76. Mariana Espinosa provided steady depth with rounds of 78-77-78 to tie for 31st at 233 (+20). Freshman
Ava Bustos added reliability in her first collegiate test at Innisbrook, carding identical rounds of 81 across all three days to finish tied for 56th at 243 (+30).
The Fire's ability to lower their team score after the opener and hold that improvement over the final 36 holes showcased the group's resilience against one of the toughest lineups of the fall. No. 6 Dalton State took home the team title with an 872 (+20), led by medalist Sara Burger, who claimed individual honors at six-under (207). No. 7 SCAD Atlanta and No. 3 SCAD Savannah rounded out the top three.
