PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The No. 14 SEU Women's Golf team placed 10th at the Seahawk Shootout, completing three rounds at PGA National Resort with a team score of +108 in one of the toughest fields of the fall. The event, hosted by top-ranked Keiser, featured five nationally ranked programs including No. 1 Keiser, No. 4 Marian (IN), and No. 6 Dalton State.
The Fire opened the tournament with a round of 324 (+36), followed it with a 323 (+35), and closed with a 325 (+37). While Keiser secured the team title at +45, Southeastern held its own in the nationally competitive lineup, using the event as an opportunity to measure up against some of the best in the NAIA.
Freshman
Sadaly Campbell paced Southeastern with a strong individual showing. After carding rounds of 80 (+8) on both Monday rounds, Campbell found her stride in Tuesday's final round with an impressive 74 (+2). That performance lifted her into 16th place overall with a tournament total of 234 (+18).
Not far behind was
Abbey Peterson, who matched Campbell's consistency across the three rounds. Peterson opened with a 79 (+7), trimmed a stroke off in round two with a 78 (+6), and closed with another 78 on Tuesday. Her steady play landed her 20th individually at 235 (+19).
The Fire also counted rounds from Mariana Espinosa, who finished at 251 (+35) after rounds of 85, 80, and 86, as well as
Ava Bustos, who tallied 81, 86, and 87 to end at 254 (+38).
Alejandra Cuellar rounded out the lineup with scores of 84, 85, and 88, totaling 257 (+41) for the week.
Although the Fire settled into the middle of the pack against a stacked field, the performances of Campbell and Peterson inside the top 20 provided a bright spot and a benchmark for the rest of the season.
Southeastern will return to competition September 29-30 at the Invite at Innisbrook, hosted at Innisbrook Ranch Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida.
