LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The SEU Men's Soccer team put together a gritty performance on the road Saturday, earning a scoreless draw against No. 22 Georgia Gwinnett at the Grizzly Soccer Complex. The result snapped a three-match losing skid for the Fire and marked the team's third shutout of the season.
Goalkeeper
Noah Murray-Hawkins was the anchor for SEU in his first clean sheet, collecting three saves across the 90 minutes. The Fire defense limited the Grizzlies to just two shots on goal in the final 70 minutes after an early push from the home side.
Offensively, Southeastern outshot Georgia Gwinnett 9-7, putting four attempts on target. Forward
Fabio De Paula was the most active threat, generating five shots with two on goal.
Guilherme Viserta and
Tapiwa Kufakurowa also forced saves, but neither side could find the breakthrough despite combining for 19 fouls from SEU and 16 from GGC.
The Fire return to Lakeland for their next contest, hosting Saint Leo University on Wednesday, September 17 at 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field.
