BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- SEU Men's Soccer completed its strong road trip start to the 2025 season with a 4-0 victory at Montreat on Monday afternoon, improving to 2-0-0 on the year.
The Fire struck first in the 9th minute when
Jman Dieng buried a rebound into an open net after
Fabio De Paula's initial shot was saved. Less than 20 minutes later, the duo connected again—this time De Paula finishing off a combination from Dieng and
Guilherme Viserta for his second goal of the year.
SEU stayed in control after halftime. Freshman
Ethan Otto netted his first collegiate goal in the 68th minute, assisted by
Arthur Bello, before Bello added a penalty strike of his own in the 79th minute to cap the scoring.
Southeastern dominated statistically, outshooting the Cavaliers 26-3, including 12-1 in shots on goal. Goalkeepers
Emmanuel Uwazie and
Noah Murray-Hawkins combined for the team's second consecutive clean sheet, marking the first time since 2014 the Fire have opened a season with back-to-back shutouts.
Through two matches, SEU has scored nine goals from seven different players—its highest combined total through the first two games of a season since 2015. The Fire have also notched back-to-back road wins to open a campaign for the first time since 2019. Both Dieng and De Paula now lead the team with two goals apiece on the young season.
The Fire return home for their home opener on Saturday, hosting Life University at the SEU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
