Fire Finish Strong, Place Fourth at Sun Conference Women’s Golf Championship

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Southeastern University wrapped up the Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship with its best team round of the tournament, securing a fourth-place finish on Tuesday.

Led by strong performances from Alejandra Cuellar and Maria Stephens, the Fire delivered a final-round 306 (+18), their lowest team score of the three-day event. Impressively, SEU's closing round was also one stroke better than that of tournament champion Keiser University.

Keiser, which held the lead throughout the tournament, claimed the title with a team total of 892, finishing seven strokes ahead of runner-up SCAD-Savannah (899). Coastal Georgia took third with a 913, followed by Southeastern's 927 in the eight-team field.

All five SEU players finished between 12th and 18th individually, showcasing the team's depth and consistency.

Cuellar led the Fire with a 12th-place finish, carding rounds of 75, 77, and 76 for a 228 total (+12). The junior remained steady throughout the championship and was the team's top finisher.

Stephens, a senior, climbed the leader board each day, concluding her tournament with her best round — a 75 — to finish 13th. Her three-round total of 230 (+14) included earlier scores of 78 and 77.

Freshman Mariana Espinosa also turned in her strongest performance in the final round, matching Cuellar's 76. Espinosa placed 15th overall with a 235 (+19), following opening rounds of 77 and 82.

Junior Madelyn Campbell posted another solid round of 80 on Tuesday, matching her Monday score. She started with a 77, finishing 17th with a three-round total of 237 (+21).
