LAKELAND, Fla. -- The SEU Track & Field teams opened the 2025 indoor season with a powerful statement on Saturday at Tenoroc High School, combining to break six school records at the SEU Fire Indoor Opener. The Fire produced standout marks across sprints, jumps, and throws, showcasing impressive early-season depth on both the men's and women's sides.
In the sprints,
Olga Gomez delivered one of the program's strongest indoor openers, clocking 7.49 in the 60-meter dash to set a new school record and surpass the previous standard of 7.51. Her performance reflects the continued development of SEU's sprint group and positions her as a key contender this winter.
The jumps crew also contributed multiple record-breaking efforts.
Alyssa Morley soared 5.79 meters in the long jump to rewrite the women's program record, adding nearly half a meter to the previous best of 5.30 meters. On the men's side,
Isaiah Burns set a new long jump mark at 7.10 meters, edging past the former record of 7.08 meters, while
George Clark established a new triple jump record at 13.80 meters, improving the program's previous high of 13.56 meters.
The Fire's throwers added more historical marks to an already standout day.
MarieAnge Moussignac launched 12.32 meters in the shot put to set a new school record, surpassing the former mark of 11.89 meters.
Charlotte-Marie Cattermole-Williams followed with a record-setting performance in the weight throw, reaching 16.02 meters to exceed the previous best of 15.56 meters.
With strong results across multiple event groups and athletes showing midseason-level form in the opener, Southeastern begins the indoor campaign carrying significant momentum. The Fire will continue their season on Friday, December 5, traveling to Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama, for an all-day competition as they look to build on their early success and pursue additional qualifying marks.
