TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Senior
Jack Brooks closed out the SEU cross country career on one of the sport's biggest stages Friday morning, representing the Fire as the program's lone individual qualifier at the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship at Apalachee Regional Park.
Competing in the 8-kilometer race, Brooks placed 185th overall in a time of 26:31.9. The performance capped a standout season that saw Brooks earn his national berth through consistent front-running efforts and a strong showing at The Sun Conference Championship.
Brooks ran a steady, composed race through the rolling terrain of Apalachee, maintaining pace within a dense mid-pack group in a field featuring more than 330 of the nation's top NAIA athletes. His national appearance marks the continued advancement of the SEU men's program, giving the Fire a national qualifier for the second time in the past three seasons.
