Fire Build Depth at FLRunners.com Invitational

SEU finishes sixth with tight pack effort on home course

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The SEU Men's Cross Country team turned in a strong group performance at the 26th FLRunners.com Invitational on their home course at Holloway Park, finishing sixth overall with 164 points. The Fire's strength came from a compact scoring pack, as all five scorers finished within ten places of each other.

Billy Meuller led the way for SEU, clocking 28:55.5 to place 32nd overall. He was followed closely by Nathaniel Chenowith in 34th at 29:37.1, giving the Fire a reliable one-two punch up front.

The middle of the lineup stayed tight, with Michael McDow (43rd, 31:14.1) and Tyler Martelly (47th, 32:20.0) finishing just six spots apart. Judah Lokey rounded out the scoring five in 52nd at 33:28.7, sealing Southeastern's total and keeping them ahead of Eckerd and Florida National in the team race.

Florida Southern claimed the team title with a perfect score of 15, followed by Tampa and Palm Beach Atlantic. Lynn and New College of Florida completed the top five ahead of Southeastern.

The Fire will look to build on their pack-running strength when they return to action at the Sand Shark Invitational on October 11 in Bluffton, S.C. The men's 8K is set for 8 a.m., followed by the women's 6K at 9 a.m.
