Join the Fire on October 24 for a special tribute game supporting breast cancer awareness and Christian educators inspired by Sarah’s life

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Southeastern University Softball will take the field this fall with a purpose that reaches far beyond the diamond. On Friday, October 24, at 4:00 p.m., the Fire will host a special "Pink Out" Breast Cancer Awareness Game in loving memory of Sarah Elisabeth Campbell-Walters, celebrating her life, faith, and enduring impact while raising awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Date: Friday, October 24, 2025
Time: 4:00 p.m.
Location: SEU Softball Field – Lakeland, Fla.
Event: Breast Cancer Awareness Game, Honoring the Life of Sarah Elisabeth Campbell-Walters

The team will take the field wearing pink in a powerful display of hope and unity, inviting the opposing team to join in the tribute in any way they are able. Free pink t-shirts will be available for attendees (while supplies last), and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Sarah Campbell-Walters Classroom Fund, created to support educators who have a passion for teaching and a heart for Christian education. This will be a ticketed event, with every dollar going directly toward this meaningful cause.

"Our goal is to play in honor of Sarah's life while also raising awareness and support in the battle against breast cancer," said SEU head coach Kayla Watkins. "Sarah's faith, love, and light inspired everyone she met—and this game is our way of keeping that light shining."

A special event graphic and t-shirt design will be shared on SEU Softball's social media platforms leading up to the game, encouraging the community to come together to celebrate Sarah's legacy of faith, courage, and compassion.

About Sarah's Story
Sarah Elisabeth Campbell-Walters went to her eternal home with Jesus at the age of 24 after courageously battling Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Deeply rooted in her faith, family, and community, Sarah lived every day with the mission of reflecting Christ's love to those around her.

In her first year of teaching, Sarah quickly became known to her students as their "second mom," embodying the grace, joy, and patience that marked her faith. Even through her most difficult moments, she remained steadfast in her belief, serving as a light to everyone she encountered. The SEU Softball program was among those who helped keep Sarah's flame burning brightly, and now, through this game, her legacy of love and purpose will continue to inspire.
