Fire Race to Runner-Up Finish in Hardeeville

Southeastern places five in the top 20 at 5K meet in South Carolina

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. -- The Southeastern University women's cross country team turned in one of its strongest outings of the season, finishing second overall in the 5-kilometer race at the Hardeeville School Complex in South Carolina. Competing against a field that included NCAA Division I Georgia Southern and several top NAIA programs, the Fire placed all five scoring runners inside the top 20 to total 58 points, behind only Georgia Southern's 21.

The course, beginning and ending at the Hardeeville School Complex while winding through Sergeant Jasper Park and the Cooler Property, offered a flat, fast layout on grass and trails with minimal road crossings. Southeastern used the favorable terrain to its advantage, running as a tight, disciplined pack throughout the race.

Izzy Colebank led the way once again for the Fire, finishing 7th overall with a time of 18:39.8. Joslyn Armstrong followed close behind in 11th (18:57.1), while Maci Mills clocked 19:06.4 to take 13th. Jadyn DeVerna placed 16th (19:15.8), and Ashlin Price sealed the team score with a 17th-place finish in 19:20.6.

Sophie Robinson (21st, 19:31.1) and Ella Sager (22nd, 19:35.2) provided strong depth just outside the scoring five, keeping Southeastern's spread to under a minute from first to seventh. The Fire's blend of veteran experience and young energy continued to shine, demonstrating the group's growth and postseason potential.

Up next, Southeastern will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, for the NAIA Appalachian Challenge on Friday, October 24, with the women's race scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. as the Fire continue their march toward The Sun Conference Championships.
