LAKELAND, Fla. – Kory Nekoloff found the back of the net twice, leading Southeastern University past Montreat College, 3-0 in a Labor Day matinee.
After the team's first 10 shots were off the mark, Nekoloff took a Victor Cavalcante pass and put it in the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Nekoloff repeated the feat 19:11 into the second stanza off helpers from Fabio DePaula and Guilherme Viserta to make it 2-0.
The Fire defense kept the Cavaliers scoreless the rest of the way, with DePaula scoring the last goal off an assist from Luca Balderstein at 73:11.
Southeastern out-shot Montreat by a 27-14 margin and 11-5 on goal. Goalie Henrique Cavalini stopped all five Cavalier shots in his 90 minutes in net.
With the win, SEU evens its mark to 1-1-1 early in the season. It was the program's first win over the Cavaliers since 2019 and improves the series record to 4-0 against Montreat.
SEU returns to action Wednesday afternoon, September 11, when they travel to Thomas University. The match is set to start at 3 p.m.
