LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire came up short of any Homecoming fireworks. Despite firing off the lone three second-half shots on net, Southeastern could not put one in the back of the net and battled Webber International to a 0-0 tie on the men's soccer pitch this evening.
After the Warriors struck fire balls onto the home net in the first half, the Fire's Henrique Cavalini turned away each one. Both Kory Nekoloff (53:27) and Murilo Ramos (79:38) belted a kick on the Webber International goal to no avail. Liam Fisch made one final push in the final minute (89:04), but the game was to be a tie.
Victor Cavalcante opened the scoring tries at 13:11 and Pietro Bronzin added his own later at 25:55 of the first half. Fabio De Paula wrapped up the home scoring attempts late at the 41:04 mark, before a pair of Webber International shots against Cavalini were taken in the final three minutes.
SEU registered its third tie of the season. The Fire move to 8-3-3 heading into The Sun Conference playoffs. SEU will host the Sun Conference tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 7, against fifth seeded Webber International. Kick off is at 4:30 p.m..
