WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—Two goals in 10 minutes had Southeastern in a position to head to The Sun Conference Championship but fell in overtime to the second-seeded Seahawks of Keiser, 3-2.
Kory Nekoloff's seventh goal of the season came in the 40
th minute of the contest when he tipped in a cross from a tough angle on the right wing by
Marko Pengili to answer Keiser's goal in the 27
th minute to go to halftime tied.
Less than four minutes into the second half,
Roque Viegas Jr. blocked a free kick by Keiser in its defensive third and landed on the toes of Pengili who fired it towards the net and in to give the third-seeded Fire the lead.
Southeastern (11-5-3) made numerous stops on defense in the final 10 minutes with two coming by
Luca Baldestein. The Seahawks (12-3-4) also hit the crossbar off a header on a corner kick with 8:25 remaining.
Henrique Cavalini made nine saves in net with two in the final 10 minutes.
It was a corner kick with just 14 seconds remaining that the Seahawks tied the game with to force overtime.
With 5:43 until penalty kicks, the Seahawks got their second goal of the game from Fami Konate off a cross to record the game winner.
The Fire registered 10 shots on goal in the match which was the most that Keiser had seen in a match this season.
