LAKELAND, Fla.—Four unanswered goals by the Fire lifted Southeastern to victory over Florida Memorial on Tuesday in the regular season finale.
Edoardo Venutolo picked up two second half goals to help SEU to a 4-1 win to get the Fire to 10-4-3 on the season and finished with a 5-2-1 Sun Conference record.
After conceding a goal in the fifth minute of the game, the Fire got the equalizer in the 19
th minute of play from
Gianluca Contegno for his seventh goal of the season. In the 35
th,
Aitor Granero picked up his second goal of the season, making a couple of defenders miss in the box before hitting the ball into the bottom right corner.
Venutolo picked up his first goal of the game in the 59
th minute when he finished a pass from James Morrisey to make it 3-1. Just over four minutes later, Venutolo made a beautiful spin move at the top of the box and hit a shot into the bottom right corner for his 11
th goal of the season.
Carlos Curado made four saves in goal for the Fire.
Southeastern will host The Sun Conference quarterfinal on Saturday at 7 p.m. against SCAD.
