Men's Soccer Dominates the Gyrenes on Senior Day

LAKELAND, Fla.- A well-executed, all-around performance by the Southeastern University men's soccer team resulted in a 6-0 senior day victory over Ave Maria to move them to 8-3-3 and 3-1-1 in Sun Conference play.

The Fire's leading goal scorer, Edoardo Venutolo, got the scoring started in the 19th minute after taking a corner kick from Lucas Nishioka and putting a header into the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season.

Skylar Funk then netted his second goal of the season less than 30 seconds later off of a Venutolo assist by heading in a volley from the left wing.

The 2-0 Fire lead would hold until the 61st minute when James Morrisey collected another Fire goal off a double assist from Gianluca Contegno and Venutolo.

Eight minutes later Antonio Marra would chip one just past the keeper and would be a part of another Fire goal three minutes after, assisting Marcello Cruz on a bank in off the right post.

Kory Nekoloff would round out the Fire scoring after netting his own rebound in the 88th minute for the Fire's 6-0 victory.

Venutolo would end the contest with a goal and two assists while Marra registered a goal and an assist.

The Fire defense have now completed a shutout in four of their last five contests.

The Fire will be back in action on Wednesday in Babson Park as they take on Webber International at 3:30 p.m.
