Over a quarter of the wins experienced by the Southeastern University softball team came against opponents ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25.

The Fire finished their first full season under coach
Kayla Watkins with a 29-22 record and were within a game of The Sun Conference Tournament.
During the Spring Break trip to Alabama, the team started to hit its stride, going 5-1 with wins over No. 7 Mobile and No. 6 Columbia during the trip.
The team also had a flare for the dramatic, winning 11 one-run games during the season. Nine of those came in a span of nine days, which included scoring three in the top of the seventh to beat Mobile in the second game of the doubleheader by the count of 6-5, a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to knock off Columbia 3-2, and a pair of walk-off wins to open Sun Conference play against Webber International.
A rough patch in mid-April put the Fire in a must-win situation at the end of the season and scored a split with No. 20 Warner on Senior Day, and had a pair of quick and efficient wins in their home finale against St. Thomas with
Madison Williams cranking her third grand slam of the season in the first game, which set up a winner-take-all doubleheader for the final spot in the conference tournament in Bluffton against USCB.
The Fire were eliminated from postseason contention after dropping the first game of the twin bill but sent their seven seniors off with an 8-6 win in their final game.
Holcomb set program records for games played, at bats, and runs scored over her five seasons with the program.
