LAKELAND, Fla.—A closely contested non-conference game ended in a tie Wednesday night with Southeastern and Florida National battling to a 1-1 draw.
Following a scoreless first half, the Fire (7-3-3) got on the board in the 58
th minute of play when
Eduardo Venutolo set up a pass from the left wing to the middle of the field to
Julian Hall who put the ball between the keeper's legs and into the back of the net.
With 3:45 remaining, Florida National scored the equalizer serving a ball from the right wing and heading it into the back of the net.
During the first overtime period, the Conquistadors (6-3-2) took a shot that glanced off the goalpost and went wide. The best chance during the extra sessions came in the second when Hall was awarded a penalty kick after an FNU foul in the box. Conquistador keeper Rodrigo Festuccia, the reigning NAIA Defensive Player of the Week made the save to preserve the draw.
In his first start in goal,
Samuel Cruz made a pair of saves.
The Fire return to Sun Conference play on Saturday with a match at SCAD-Savannah at 6 p.m.
