LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern University women's tennis team won its fifth consecutive match, shutting out NCAA Division II Bluefield State, 7-0.
Southeastern took the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 by
Beatrice Letizia and
Priscila Baptista, who improved to 3-0 as a team, and 6-3 wins at Lines 2 and 3 by
Sharienne Ricardo and
Angelique Myrtil and
Mia Dunagan and Bijelic Nadezda.
In singles play, the Fire had a couple of tight matches, led by Myrtil at Line 4, who dropped the first set 6-4, but took the second 6-2, then won the third 7-6, taking the tiebreaker 7-1 to win her 10
th match of the season. Nadeza at Line 3 won the first set 7-6, taking the tiebreaker 7-4, then was a 7-5 winner in the second.
Letizia won in straight sets at No. 2 Singles to improve to 12-2, as did
Priscila Baptista at Line 5.
The Fire take to the courts again on Monday against Indiana University East.
