LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southeastern women's tennis team continue to push their program-high victory total to 15, as they defeated College of Coastal Georgia 8-1 this afternoon.
The Fire went undefeated in doubles play.
Sharienne Ricardo and
Angelique Myrtil earned the first victory for the Fire, defeating CCGA's top competitors 8-4.
Beatrice Letizia and
Priscila Baptista beat the Mariners second best 8-2. At No. 3,
Gabby Marshall and
Mia Dunagan were successful against Coastal Georgia rivals winning 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-5.
Southeastern continued their momentum into singles play, as they won five of the six matches on the day.
Freshman from Italy, Letizia beat Mariners best in two sets (6-0, 6-2). At No. 2, Ricardo earned another victory for SEU winning 6-3 in the first set and 6-1 in the second.
Brazilian-native, Baptista defeated her opponent in two sets (6-1, 6-3) at No.3 singles. Myrtil was successful at No. 4, not conceding any points to Mariners rival.
Finishing the afternoon, Dunagan won in an extra set. At No.5 singles, Dunagan won the first set 7-6, taking the tiebreaker 6-3. The freshman from Oklahoma lost the second set, however came back and won the final set 10-7.
The Fire travel to Babson Park for the last game of the regular season, as they take on Webber International at 1:00 p.m.
