HARDEEVILLE, S.C.—As the game clock wound under a minute before a second overtime period, the ball landed at the feet of sophomore
Julian Hall.
Hall calmly settled the ball, surveyed his options, then hammered the ball into the near back corner to give Southeastern a 2-1 victory and send the Fire to The Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals.
"I was just living in the moment and had to improvise," said Hall. "Coach always tells us it only takes a moment of brilliance, and I was just happy to get the win and get to the next game."
The Fire held a 1-0 lead at the intermission, getting a goal from a header by
Ben-Avir Espinal on a pass from
Banabas Ganidekam with 15:54 left in the half.
Early in the second half, SCAD drew a penalty kick that led to their lone goal of the contest with just 3:20 gone in the second half.
The Fire had the majority of the opportunities, doubling SCAD's shot total with 20 and totaling eight shots on goal to SCAD's four. Additionally, SEU totaled seven corner kicks to just two by the Bees.
Southeastern will travel to Keiser for its semifinal game on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
