Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Warren Johnson

Fire defeat Seahawks for first Conference Win

SEU wins against Keiser University

In their first Conference game of the season, the Fire defeated the No. 23 Keiser University Seahawks, 4-2, resulting in the second highest opponent defeated by the Fire since 2015, when they defeated No. 11 Cumberland.

Down by a goal scored by Keiser in the first ten minutes, Jake Van Der Luit answered the challenge and put the Fire on the board. Van Der Luit was the game's top scorer, with two goals in the first half, one at twelve minutes and the other at thirty-two. These goals bring Van Der Luit's season total to seven. Julian Hall scored his second goal of the season, a goal that guaranteed the win, unassisted, in the opening minutes of the second half, with a precision shot from 25 yards out.

"As a team, we executed the game plan very well," said coach Clay Roberts. "A collective team effort is what produced this win."

The Fire scored again in the 73rd minute, when AJ Davis headed the ball in over the keeper's head. It was his first goal of the season and cemented the Fire's victory over the Seahawks, who failed to score again in the remaining minutes of play.

The Fire will play Warner on 9/26 at 7:30 PM, at their home field.
