On April 12, 2016, Southeastern University opened its expanded Student Activities Center, which includes the arena that hosts wrestling meets going forward. Its versatility is its greatest quality, allowing it to be used to host special events, assemblies, and much more.
"As I have looked at this facility and have walked through it, it's another reminder of the incredible growth and development that's taking place on our campus," said Southeastern University President Dr. Kent Ingle. "This accomplishment is another major milestone in our journey as a university of innovation and we look forward to reaching many more milestones as we progress along our God-given journey to provide education that is both affordable and accessible to what God is doing in your life."
Southeastern modeled its wrestling facility after the Friedman Wrestling Center on the campus of Cornell University.
"We asked all of our (wrestling) head coaching candidates what they thought the top college wrestling facility was and it was Cornell," said Director of Athletics Drew Watson. "You'd have a hard time telling the difference between theirs and ours.
"Southeastern's administration continues to set the bar high and this facility is an example of that," said Watson.
The addition expanded the existing space by 15,209 square feet. Construction began on the facility in October of 2015.
