The Furnace

Opened in early 2003, The Furnace, is home to the men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the women’s volleyball team.

Previously known as Ferrell Academy, renovations began on the future Sportsplex in 2001, and in late 2002, the newly remodeled Sportsplex opened.

The facility includes more than 29,000 square feet and features offices for the Fire coaching staff, an athletic training room, locker rooms, and a spacious lounge area for fans to enjoy refreshments during games. In 2005, the Aquatics Center was also added to the facility.

The first game played in the Sportsplex took place on January 9, 2003 ,when the Southeastern women’s basketball team matched up against Valley Forge Christian College. The Lady Crusaders defeated VFCC, 52–29, in the annual Assemblies of God Basketball Tournament. The Southeastern men also opened versus Valley Forge Christian and earned an 87–80 victory later that evening.

During the Fab Four season in 2013-14, the Fire men's basketball team compiled a 15-1 record at home. The Fire women's basketball team used a 13-1 mark at The Furnace to its advantage during the 2015-16 season to claim a Sun Conference regular season championship.

This gave SEU the opportunity to host The Sun Conference Tournament semifinals and championship, which the Fire went on to win.

The women’s volleyball team dropped their Sportsplex opener to Florida College in straight sets on September 9, 2003.

During Southeastern’s tenure within the NCCAA D-II South Region, the Sportsplex played a key home court advantage as the three programs combined for a 118–18 South Region record. The SEU men’s basketball team compiled a 64–3 home record versus region opponents and won their first 26 region games in their new home.

From 2004 to 2006, the Sportsplex hosted the NCCAA II Women’s Basketball National Tournament, and in 2010, the facility welcomed The Sun Conference Mid-Season Volleyball Tournament.
