Southeastern University head track coach
Nick Dodson announced the hiring of Chester Hightower as an assistant coach prior to the start of the 2018-19 inaugural season.
Hightower was a former high school teammate of Dodson's, and went on to play football and run track at Stillman College, where he was an All-SIAC runner and a region champion in the 200 meters. He was a two-time Team MVP, and was a three-time NCAA Division II national qualifier.
"Chester has the same vision as I do and he's done an excellent job with his own programs," said Dodson. "He wants to build good character kids through Christ and continue with our motto of being a student-athlete and not an athletic student."
Hightower started his own AAU track club in Thomasville, Ga, which has produced five AAU National Champions and nine region champions. He's also served as the track coach and an assistant football coach at Thomas County Central Middle School for the past four years.
"I'm excited to see our kids grow from their freshman year to their senior year and inspire them to love track," said Hightower. "I'm looking forward to helping lay the foundation for a successful program."
